چکیده

It is well-known that a type-II superconductor, while exposed to a magnetic field B whose magnitude is between the lower and upper critical field, is penetrated by a flux-line array of Abrikosov vortices, or fluxons [1–3]. Each vortex contains one magnetic flux quantum, Φ0 = 2.07× 10−15 Wb, and the repulsive interaction between vortices makes them to arrange in a triangular lattice, with the vortex lattice parameter aL √ Φ0/B where B = |B|. A vortex is often simplified by the hard-core model [4], where the core is a cylinder of normal material with a diameter of the order of the coherence length. In this model, the magnetic field is constant in the core but decays exponentially outside the core over a distance of the order of the effective magnetic penetration depth.

Noise-Assisted Microwave Up-conversion by Vortices in Thin-Film Superconductors with a dc-Biased Washboard Pinning Potential

So far the main theoretical basis for understanding and optimization of the microwave properties of vortices in type II superconductors has been relying upon the Coffey–Clem (CC) approach for the linear impedance at nonzero temperature. However, the CC model does not account for the non-linear response and the possibility to control it by changing the value of the dc transport current in a supe...

Probing dynamics and pinning of single vortices in superconductors at nanometer scales

The dynamics of quantized magnetic vortices and their pinning by materials defects determine electromagnetic properties of superconductors, particularly their ability to carry non-dissipative currents. Despite recent advances in the understanding of the complex physics of vortex matter, the behavior of vortices driven by current through a multi-scale potential of the actual materials defects is...

Vortex Plastic Motion in Twinned Superconductors.

We present simulations, without electrodynamical assumptions, of Bsx, y, Hstdd, MsHstdd, and JcsHstdd in hard superconductors for a variety of twin-boundary pinning potential parameters, and for a range of values of the density and strength of the pinning sites. We numerically solve the overdamped equations of motion of up to 10 flux-gradient-driven vortices which can be temporarily trapped at ...

Microwave-stimulated superconductivity due to presence of vortices

The response of superconducting devices to electromagnetic radiation is a core concept implemented in diverse applications, ranging from the currently used voltage standard to single photon detectors in astronomy. Suprisingly, a sufficiently high power subgap radiation may stimulate superconductivity itself. The possibility of stimulating type II superconductors, in which the radiation may inte...

Vortex Washboard Voltage Noise in Type-II Superconductors

In order to characterize flux flow through disordered type-II superconductors, we investigate the effects of columnar and point defects on the vortex velocity / voltage power spectrum in the driven non-equilibrium steady state. We employ three-dimensional Metropolis Monte Carlo simulations to measure relevant physical observables including the force-velocity / current-voltage (I-V) characterist...
